Problems when uploading to an LMS

Feb 25, 2015

I´m a newbie at this, but have made two webcourses for clients of mine.

I have made them the same way and saved both in Scorm 1:2 version.

My second client got this message when they tried to upload the course.

Anyone who knows what´s wrong? Because I don´t!

Could it be that I have used the letter Ä in the name of the course?

Step 2 : SCORM package validation. Creating SCORM package SCORM package cannot be imported if validation errors exists with severity "Critical"

Severity Line Column Message

Critical 53 65 cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: 'Mastercare_-_Svenska_h?lsob?nken_ORG' is not a valid value for 'NCName'.

Critical 53 65 cvc-attribute.3: The value 'Mastercare_-_Svenska_h?lsob?nken_ORG' of attribute 'default' on element 'organizations' is not valid with respect to its type, 'IDREF'.

Critical 54 69 cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: 'Mastercare_-_Svenska_h?lsob?nken_ORG' is not a valid value for 'NCName'.

Critical 54 69 cvc-attribute.3: The value 'Mastercare_-_Svenska_h?lsob?nken_ORG' of attribute 'identifier' on element 'organization' is not valid with respect to its type, 'ID'.

Critical 56 124 cvc-datatype-valid.1.2.1: 'Mastercare_-_Svenska_h?lsob?nken_SCO' is not a valid value for 'NCName'.

Critical 56 124 cvc-attribute.3: The value 'Mastercare_-_Svenska_h?lsob?nken_SCO' of attribute 'identifier' on element 'item' is not valid with respect to its type, 'ID'.

Greatful for any tips!

Not a 100% sure what's gone wrong here but the error is to the best of my Knowledge XML based,

Do you have similar  Ä  or non standard characters  in the Attributes of ID and NCName?

if so i would try removing the non standard Alpha Numerics and seeing if that does the trick

Bit of a guess ime afraid but i hope it helps.

If you want to test yourself sign up for a free scorm cloud account and import your zipped sco package and see if you get similar errors.

Hi Barbro,

We always recommend adhereing to the guidelines here in regards to file names and paths that steer clear of special characters, accents, symbols, etc. - so as Alex mentioned if that character is also in the file name, or course ID, etc. it could be causing issues.

Also as Alex mentioned you could test the course yourself by uploading to SCORM Cloud here, which is an industry standard for testing SCORM content.
