I am using Storyline 2, I have several youtube vidoes embedded as web objects in my presentations. I added cc_load_policy=1 into the url correctly and the closed captioning was working correctly not to long ago. I went to check my presentations, and now CC is not working at all a CC button isn't even showing up in the embedded video. I checked the videos on youtube and they still have closed captioning.
We've run into an issue where using the cc_load_policy=1 attribute wasn't consistently working for embedded YouTube videos. The YouTube video will show captions from the original URL, but using the embed code is removing the CC button.
It appears to be a YouTube problem that has surfaced, but our team is working to confirm that.
I'll keep this thread updated as we get more information.
Does the cc_load_policy=1 extension work for Vimeo videos as well? And does something go before the extension to separate it from the video link? I've never CC'd a video before so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I usually embed Vimeo videos within a web object so that I can interact with their API and get information such as when the video ends. How are you trying to embed this in your course?
Thank you so much! It's making sense now. When all is said and done, it looks like the video was not equipped with cc in the first place. :::sigh::: Aw, well, next time!

Hey Daniel I am experiencing the same thing. This is a recent issue as they were showing up last week for the project I am working on.
Looks like they are back in action for me, hopefully the same for you.

Thanks Crystal! I appreciate the update.
Just to confirm what you discovered, Dan: Looks like the issue is fixed!
Some magic must have happened overnight, because all of our test files with cc_load_policy and the embed URL are now showing captions as well.
Thanks, Dan, for mentioning that it was working-- your comment spurned me to try testing again today.
❤️ this community!
I second the love for this community - SO helpful to have when things like this arise!
Thanks for the help,
The issue has fixed it self and the Closed captioning is working.
Awesome! Thanks for popping back in with an update.

Theresa, it looks like the texttrack parameter is used for Vimeo videos. Check out this link https://vimeo.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360001494447-Using-Player-Parameters .
Thank you for this. Can you help me out with how the embed code should look? Using the example in the URL you sent:
https://player.vimeo.com/video/76979871?embedparameter=value
Here are the texttrack codes: Examples: "en", "en-US", "en.captions", "en.subtitles"
This is beyond my pay grade but my customer would like me to figure this out if it's possible. Thank you so much!

Also as a web object
The link should look something like this.
https://player.vimeo.com/video/76979871?texttrack=en
