Problems with interaction reporting in Moodle

Jul 21, 2020

Hello all, hope you can help.

I have a real problem that I hope you can help me with.

I've created a course with 18 survey questions scattered over five scenes.
The course is published in SCORM 1.2 (as it's Moodle) and is set to track as complete on the results slide, then the following slide is the closing slide and the course ends.

I have tested the course on SCORM Cloud in SCORM 1.2 and the interactions are being logged perfectly, however in Moodle I get the attached gibberish instead of the interaction data.

Now, I made a condensed version of the course with just the survey questions and Moodle reported the interactions perfectly.

I'm not a coder, I purely design and I'm not too hot with SCORM, (my boss does all the LMS stuff). Is there something that I don't know??? Is there something I haven't set corectly in either StoryLine or Moodle?

Help my Obi-Wan you're my only help.

Kind regards, Richard

Hi Richard, the gibberish you are seeing is fine. This is the suspend_data and is only used to persist state in the course.

The interactions report is usually accessed on another tab in Moodle is it not?

Also, when using moodle and Storyline, it might be worth making sure you have Moodle setup so it is not being strict with SCORM 1.2 and allows more suspend_data to be stored than the usual 4024 characters.

Are you 100% sure the interaction data is not available under another tab?

Hi Sam, thanks for the heads up on this.

Everything works now. I rebuilt the course from scratch, started a new project and imported the slides that way, low and behold - success.

There was a point where I saved the course to an external drive, and after reading the forums there were plenty pf suggestions NOT to save to peripherals - not sure why this causes a problem but there you go!!!

Thank you for your input.
