Problems with LMS Tracking Completion Properly

Feb 27, 2013

I have built a course that contains three mini quizzes, so I want to track a cumulative score using a results of results slide.  I have been unsuccessful at getting my LMS to track completion status correctly.  The score IS correctly tracked.

Some info:

LMS:  SumTotal v. 7.6.2625.0 (I think that's the right version number)

SCORM: 1.2

Problem with Tracking & Completion using Results of Results Slide

I have published and tested the course using all four reporting options (Pass/Fail, Complete/Incomplete, etc.) with the same result.  It passes back a score to my LMS, but I am marked as Incomplete with a score of 100%.  I set my passing score at 0% as I don't care WHAT their score is, as long as they completed the course.

Problem with Tracking & Completion using Slides Viewed

I have also published and tested the course using Slides Viewed.  Due to branching within the course, I have set the minimum number of slides viewed to be fewer than the total number of slides.  As soon as the learner hits that minimum number, they get a pop-up window that informs that they've completed the course and prompts them to click OK, which then closes the course.  In this instance, they are marked as "Completed" but they were prematurely exited from the course!

Has anyone had similar issues and found a successful solution?

Hey Sara!

Are you getting the same results if you try testing your course in SCORM Cloud? That will help us determine if the issue is Articulate-related or if it's on your LMS's side. If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on. If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team. The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.

Thanks!

Well...

Not 100% similar - but earlier today a client LMS administrator had to edit every occurrence of the word "Passed" out of these 4 files for me for one course, and change to "Completed" to get SL to recognise that it has in fact been compiled to "Incomplete/Complete".

You may want to give something similar a try?
