Progress Not Saved

Jan 31, 2018

I am working on a course that includes a pre-test.  The user is allowed to either take or skip the pre-test.  While testing the published course in SCORM Cloud, I noticed some interesting behavior.  If the pre-test is skipped, the user can leave and resume their progress in the course with no problem.  If the pre-test is attempted, then anytime afterward that the user leaves the course and attempts to resume their progress, they are placed back into the pre-test.  If a user has taken the pre-test and completes the course but chooses to relaunch it again, they are taken back to the pre-test and their progress is deleted.  The LMS does track the time spent in the course and the completion status but resets the progress within the course each time (and navigation is restricted), but only if they choose to take the pre-test.

I have removed the pre-test and the course now functions perfectly, allowing the user to leave and resume the course at will.

I cannot fathom why the pre-test would be causing this glitch.  Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Dominique,

Sorry that you've run into trouble with this.

How is tracking set up for your course? Do you have tracking set on the result slide for the pre-test or are they perhaps the same results slide as the post-test?

Storyline lets you track a course either by the number of slides viewed or by a single quiz (result slide). Tracking both measurements or multiple quiz scores for the same course isn't supported. However, you may be able to track more than one SCO (shareable content object) in a single course using one of the methods in this article.

If you need us to take a look, you are welcome to share the .story file.
