Publish to Word, missing pictures

Jan 24, 2023

Grüezi Mitenand,

In Storyline we can publish to Word. The process is actually straight forward.
But the output - unfortunately - is not as expected.   :(
I have attached the screenshots "expected.png" and "output.png" for you to see.

How can I get that fixed?
What are the limitations?
Are the limitations listed in some place?
If yes, where?

Hi CC Service,

I'm sorry you're having an issue with your images disappearing when publishing to Word! That is very strange! I have a few follow-up questions for you.

  • Is this the only file you have this problem with?
  • What version of Word are you using?
  • Would you be willing to share your file here or with our support engineers privately in a support case so we can troubleshoot?

Thanks for reaching out!

Grüezi John,

  • I will try with some other project as well and let you know about the outcome.
We are currently trying to figure out the best way to create some handouts, and this particular one was chosen, because it was helpful for an ongoing training (even with the noted shortcomings).
  • Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise, Version 2202 (Build 14931.20858)
  • I can share the project in a "support case", but that thing is huge: 168 MB.
But maybe other projects behave the same and those are smaller.

Grüezi Jürgen,

I made a copy of the story (in the Windows file explorer) and removed all those slides from the project which looked ok. I then published the remaining slides to Word. I will send both - the story and the word document - to the support team.

On this channel I want to show the already discussed slide only. The numbering changed (obviously), but all the rest is identical. The community shall be able to see what I am struggeling with. Others maybe experience similar or the same issues.

I am working on a local drive, not any type of network drive.
And no, I did not alter/manipulate the output quality in any way.
