Published Path Length

Hi,
Standard advice from Articulate is:
"...make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate)...."
If this is so - why does Storyline, as a default seem to have it set as:
c:\users\insert_name_here\My Documents\My Articulate Projects - which must be 60-60 before we even get started with years, company names, project folders, versions and filenames.
Just wonderin'

The 260 max character path length is not really an Articulate limitation, but rather an NTFS (file-system) one.
It is similar to the 256 max character length for a filename.

Yeah - I get that...but doesn't the software create that path automatically?
Cannot remember if I created it, or the software created it automatically.
Just saying that if the recommendation is a shorter path, then that should be the default created by the Application IF it created it and not me.
Thanks
Bruce
Yes, both Studio and Storyline create that path automatically.
Maybe, however if you are on a shared computer the "Users/Bruce/" folder (on Vista/Win7/Win8) prevents others from viewing that folder by default (not the case if you were to save everything to "C:\PRJ), therefore protecting our precious .stories.
