PUBLISHED SCORM ISSUE DISPLAYING VIDEO (MP4) FILE

Oct 27, 2017

Greeting all..

I have published a scorm file which includes an pm4 video produced and packaged by videoscribe.

it plays in preview within storyline perfectly, however when I publish it to scorm and host on moodle, the outsides of the video have a black bar eitherside, e.g. not stretching along with the rest of the storyline SCORM file.

I have checked everything is grouped together, but still when I publish it changes shape.

I know it has worked as I have done it once before but no for some reason it wont accept the size.

Does anyone with more experience know how to fix this issue?

kind regards

J

Thank you for investigating, I thought I had already sent the file, but happy to attach the storyline.file again. (uploaded another version, still with two videoscribe mp4 files attached.)

I am using the latest version of storyline 2.

and the latest version of videoscribe and the latest version of moodle.

All a bit odd.

I would be so grateful if you could kindly resolve the matter for me.

if the attachment doesn't get attached, as it didn't look like it was being attached, can you kindly send me your email address and I will send a dropbox?

Thank you for helping however4, it doesn't play correctly when made larger within the browser. E.g. moodle window is almost of the size of the monitor, everything is as expected however the mp4 doesn't stretch.

Do you have any other advice or guidance?

Or do you yourselves have moodle and can upload it to see if it works for you?

With kind regards

Hi John,

In general, a png file (like the ipad frame you are using) will scale differently and a lot smoother than a video file.

I noticed that your storyline is set to 820 x 461. But your video files are all 720 x 352 (which is 88% by 76%).  I think this is part of the problem; it's tough to scale when the ratios are different.

I wasn't able to replicate the bars, but I also noticed that the video file in your screengrab has a hand. None of the videos in your story doc have a hand so these are different videos. Would be easier to troubleshoot with the same assets.

Just trying to help.

Ok great..

What I will do is re-upload the mp4 and see how it goes again.

The assets are embedded with the video so should be an issue regardless, however what you have stated about the size and conflicting player size, I understand. However, I am pretty sure that to get around this issue you simply group the assets together then everything grows accordingly.

For some reason the “grouping” of the assets are not working with the mp4 file.

Do you think this is an error/oversight on the storyline software, e.g. not allowing a video file to group?

Kind regards

Ed
