Publishing and testing for iPad

Apr 11, 2013

Hi,

1. i'll be happy to know what are the differences between publishing for HTML5 and publishing with the Articulate iPad mobile player.

2. We are using a vendor to convert previous courses into HTML5 for iPad. We need to test them out.
Ones who already had such projects - can you give the checklist of what to look for when doing QA tot he converted files?

Can we test these (~40 courses and quizzes) on a browser with HTML5 or will it behave differently on an actual iPad?

Thanks!

Hi Efrat,

Even though you can try the HMTL5-based output on a desktop browser and there are also mobile online emulators, I think it´s better to always test mobile solutions on the real devices. This will not only allow you to avoid performance issues when the course is actually deployed on the iPad but also it can help you to get a better understanding of how your design works in this new environment.

Also, the main funtion of the Articulate Mobile Player is to optimize content viewing on the iPad. If you check the link provided by Michael, you will see that some features are not supported by mobile browsers.

Hope this helps!

OK, I was out of the loop. Seems we will not be using the Mobile app. Instead allow the users to open the courses directly from the learning portal.

And of course I agree this is best Mayra, yet we do not have one currently, and purchasing one will all the approval, will be too late for this project. So a sample will be done on an iPad, and looking for options to loan from other units...

More important - what is the recommended ratio for the stage for an iPad view?

So we can maximize the screen use.

If we use the menu or do not use it - it changes the player size - what will be the different ratios?
