Publishing course with quiz to Absorb

May 11, 2023

I have published the course with Scorm 2004, passed/failed, and also complete/failed.  If they pass, it marks it complete status, but if they don’t it is in process.  I do have 80% as their passing grade.  I want it to show complete/failed and report the score. However, it reports in process.  Any suggestions?

Hi Milagro!

It sounds like you had some questions about how your learners' quiz scores are being reported to your LMS. I'd be happy to offer some insight!

Have you tested your course in SCORM Cloud yet? It's an online LMS environment that can be used to figure out whether the issue is with the LMS (Absorb) or the Story file itself. If you test your course on SCORM cloud and it's performing as it should, then your issue is LMS based.

If you're willing to share your project file here in the discussion or privately through a support case, I'd be happy to test it out for you and report my findings!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello Milagro,

To help us better understand what's happening, can you confirm if the behavior is only happening when your course is uploaded to Absorb LMS? You can confirm this by testing your course in either Halogen LMS or SCORM Cloud. Additionally, you can also enable the LMS debug logs of your course to get a more detailed idea of the behavior. Here's how:

If you need to manually set if your course uses AICC or SCORM, you'll need to republish your course and select either AICC or SCORM from the publishing settings

Let us know how it goes!

Yes, it is only happening when we upload to Absorb.  I think the solution is to manually set the SCORM status to a variable at the end of the course that says if someone fails the exam, the course status will still be marked as complete in the LMS.  That is the issue; it doesn't mark it complete with a failed grade.  The learner cannot move to the next module because it shows in the process.  I appreciate your help.

Hello Milagro,

If that's the case, you can try testing how your course behaves in your LMS using different learning standards. You can check out this article for more information:

Alternatively, if your course is not dependent on scoring, you can use a complete course trigger to mark your course as complete:

Thank you for your continued support!
Based on the articles you sent me, I decided to publish it XAPI.   The article said:
"XAPI is the latest evolution of SCORM. It’s moreversatile than other LMS standards. When you publish xAPI courses in Storylineand Studio, you don’t choose a reporting option, yet your LMS can still trackcompletion and success. So there’s no guesswork or trial and error. If your LMSsupports xAPI, we recommend it as a top-tier option.
Absorb accepts XAPI.  However, when we select "exit course", it doesn't do anything.  See the screenshot below.  I also attached the Result slide from Storyline 360.
We need the following to happen:
1.  Show it is complete once they reach the result slide, regardless if they failed or passed.2.  Provide a score in the LMS.3.  Let the learner continue to proceed with the curriculum if they fail.
***NOTE:  This course worked in Halogen LMS for the last 4 years.  The problem started when we switched it to Absorb LMS.****
Thank you.

Hi Milagro,

Can I ask if you've already reached out to the support team of Absorb LMS to report the behavior you're experiencing? If your course works fine in Halogen LMS and SCORM Cloud, there's a chance that the issue is LMS specific, and having the support team of Absorb LMS take a look at the behavior is a good way to get an extra set of eyes on the issue.

Additionally, I opened a support case on your behalf so we can have our support team take a look at the behavior you're experiencing. Please be on the look out for an email from our support team so we can continue troubleshooting!
