Publishing for an external customer
Oct 27, 2016
Hi - I am a little confused about the best format for publishing and playing Storyline 2. If I just send the html output to the our customer the content does not display. Likewise, if I try to link storyline pages to other published content the pages do not display. What is the best format to send the finished presentation to the customer in? Do they need all of the folders in order to view the data? I have never been able to get the online player to work. It just hangs with the loading symbol... please advise...
Thanks
Suzanne

amplunch shows the launch page, but if I select launch nothing happens. The html content of story and story_unsupported do not launch - only the symbol attached below shows. storty_html5 launches, but none of the resources show.
None of these are really suitable.
Hi Suzanne
Read through this knowledge base article -it should help you.

Ok I just had some advice - which is to look at this article:
https://en-au.articulate.com/support/storyline-2/publishing-and-sharing-articulate-storyline-content-sl2
This helps a little. I would still like to be able to make the player full screen...
Thanks for this information - I have published the data as a CD and this works better with the player - two questions.
1. If the user does not have storyline will they be able to launch the story player?
2. Can we make the player full screen?
Thanks
Suzanne

Here is a link to all the SL2 tutorials
https://community.articulate.com/series/articulate-storyline-2/
Check out no. 122 for the player browser settings
Publishing for cd is for people who don't have SL installed and you are not publishing to a webserver or LMS. They will double click the launch_story.exe to play the project.
Hi
Can we just send them the launcher without any of the content in the story
Hi Suzanne,
In order for the content to play properly, you'll want to make sure to send the entire published for CD output. As Wendy mentioned, your users will then be able to access the content by double clicking the "Launch_story.exe" file in the output folder.
Hope that helps clarify a bit, please let me know if you have further questions!
Hi
Thanks for the clarification. My concern is that the data in our presentation is not for public use, therefore I would not want them to be able to easily copy the images etc, which they currently can. Is there anyway of sending the data to the user without it being on the web and without them being able to view content outside of the player?
Thanks
Suzanne

Hi again! Just popping in to also let you know that when you reply to a comment via email, your post will include your email signature. You're welcome to stop by the thread here and edit that info out of your previous comment if necessary! :)
Oops, looks like our responses crossed here! Sorry about that, Suzanne. The publish for CD method I'm describing is the only supported way to send the published product for local viewing compatibility. Otherwise, you would need to host it on the web via a website, LMS, or Articulate Online.
How secure is Articulate online? Who can view/access the data?

Hi Suzanne!
Did you check out the documentation that Ali shared above? I believe you are asking about the location of the servers, but everything is secure and off-site.
