Publishing Storyline 2 to Cornerstone LMS

Jun 22, 2015

I designed an E-learning for a client in Storyline 2 (my first time to use Storyline 2).  I published the course for LMS in SCORM 2004 and SCORM 1.2 (not knowing which was best).  I saved a zipped version on Dropbox to share.

The client is now trying to load them in Cornerstone and is getting an error that states: "An error has occured: Error - unable to acquire LMS API, content may not play properly and results may not be recorded.  Please contact technical support.

Press OK to view debug information to send to technical support".

I am not sure if this is due to something I am doing on my end when publishing or not.  Any advice?

Hi Sara,

That error message is typically associated with the LMS - and it may be caused by the version of Java that you have installed.

Some LMS’s use a Java API object to load content. Since content created in Articulate does not require Java, please do the following:

*  Contact your LMS provider and ensure that your installed version of Java is compatible with the version of the LMS you are using.
*  Ensure that you have published your content properly as described in the following article.

You could also test upload the course to SCORM Cloud which is an industry standard for testing LMS content to see how it behaves there.

Hope that helps and feel free to let us know if you need anything else!

So, it all boiled down to using Google Chrome.... I took your advice and used SCORM Cloud using Google Chrome and it duplicated the error my client was receiving after uploading the files from Dropbox.

I then did the same thing using Firefox and it worked with no problem.  I informed my client to try in Firefox or Internet Explorer and he is now able to successfully upload into Cornerstone.

Thanks for your guidance!
