Publishing to CD

Sep 04, 2012

Hi - when I produce my courses, they need to be reviewed and signed off by a number of different stakeholders. In the past, with Publisher, I have used the 'Publish to CD' option and then copied the files from my hard drive to a shared network drive for everyone to view and that has worked fine.

With Storyline, I have seen the advice that publishing to a network drive is not supported. Does that include the above option of  publishing to a hard drive and then copying the files to a shared drive (rather than publishing directly to a shared drive)? Although I can play the shared drive files OK, other users experience erratic behaviour like hotspots not working and not being able to navigate via the Menu.

What do you recommend as the best way to distribute a project for feedback/sign-off? I am using the Word version in the meantime but would like to be able to demonstrate the full functionality. Our final versions will be published to Web or LMS but these aren't viable for me to use for the feedback/sign-off phase.

Many thanks!

Hi Mirren,

I always use Dropbox to do this, as you say a fully functioning version is much better, but I use it in conjunction with a Word version so they can write edits.

Some people do not like Dropbox due to the fact it does not cache, and suggest Amazon AWS instead - you will find a few threads here if you search on AWS - for example this one.

Bruce
