Running a Story off a CD-ROM
Mar 18, 2013
Hello! I encountered a problem today that really has me stymied.
I created a project and published it. It runs fine off my hard drive. (I can go to the folder and double-click Launch_Story.exe and it takes off like it should).
When I publish for a CD-ROM, and then create a CD, all the files on my hard drive copy to the CD (including the Autorun.inf file and Launch_Story.exe). But when I load the CD into the drive bay of any computer in my office, the bay churns as it reads the file, then throws up an empty Story Line player, but it is empty.
Any ideas what could cause this?

Hi Richard,
Have you tried burning the content on another CD to see if it may be an issue with the original disk? If that doesn't work, are you able to share the .STORY file with us, so we can test it out?
You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.
Thanks!
Hi, Christine. Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I tried burning another CD just to be sure there was not a disk error, and the second CD did the same thing-- start Storyline, but show an empty Story Line window.
I"ll upload the file right now and you can look at it at your leisure.
Richard
Good morning Richard,
I haven't been able to find a case or file upload for your project. Have you had a chance to submit the files? If so, can you share the confirmation details or case number with me?
Thanks
Christine
Sorry, Christine. Still learning the ropes (as they used to say in the Royal Navy).
Case number: 00324435
No problem! Thanks very much for the number, Richard
Good morning Richard
I was checking in on your case this morning and I see that burning the disc with Nero seems to have resolved the issue. Very happy to hear it's working for you now. If you run into any other problems with this, please let us know.
Thanks and have a great day, Richard!
Christine
