Publishing to CD - HELP!!

Dec 04, 2012

I have a very basic course that got handed off to me. We need to publish it to CD. When i publish it to CD the audio timing off. I have a screen at the beginning that says... "click anywhere to begin" So they click on this screen and the course should begin playing which happens sometimes. Sometimes the audio starts but the screen doesn't change to the next slide like it should. Sometimes the first two slides are fine and the third starts about 3 seconds into the slide. I have tried everything i can think of. I have tried to trigger the audio with the first image that is on the screen. No help. I have imported it into a new story. i have republished and tried new CDs. I tried closing all open programs when the CD plays. We have one course that we published to CD that is not having this issue, i compared everything in that one to this course and mad them match - No luck. I am publishing to my C:\ drive. Any help is appreciated.

Hi Tracy,

Sorry to hear about the trouble. However, I'm a little confused. At first I was under the impression you were publishing to CD, then burning the content onto the CD before testing. However, you mention near the end of your post that you're publishing to the C drive.

If you are publishing to your C: drive and viewing the content, that may be the issue. If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
If you continue to have problems with the timing, please let us know.
Thanks!

Good morning Tracy,

Thanks very much for getting back to me and clarifying

That sounds strange, especially if it's playing properly if you publish for a different destination. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the quality settings, or possibly the way the files are being copied to the CD. Take a look at this tutorial and make sure you're following the steps listed for publishing to CD. It could be just a simple case of missing a step in the process.

If this continues, would you mind if we took a closer look at the files? Please submit a support case with us and include your .story file. Also, if you do open a support case, please share your case number with me. I'll follow along with the progress of the case.

Thanks again, Tracy!

I am having the same problem.  When I play my project from the CD player, there is a huge lag between slides causing the audio and certain video movements to be cut off at the end of each slide.  And there is a noticeable lag throughout the slides.  Once the player moves to the next slide at the end of the timeline, everything that was still trying to catch up just gets cut off.

And the CD Player is screaming trying to play the contents.

Hey, Andrew -

Sounds like a serious issue. Please submit a support case using Christine's link above if you haven't already. That'll get it into the queue for attention / replication in support, which'll get a bug in the queue for fix'in. I occasionally deploy stuff to a CD. Would love not to have to deal with the same issue you're enduring
