Question about Translation feature

Dec 26, 2018

Hi all!

My client has provided me with two Storyline files - and English and a Spanish version of the exact same course.

I need to make some visual updates to these courses.

It occurred to me that instead of making these updates twice, maybe I could save time by doing the following process. Unfortunately this didn't work for me -- at step 3, all of the English just stayed English. Does anyone know how I could make this work?

Here's the process I tried:

1. After I make the visual changes to the English file, open the Spanish file and go to file > Translations > Export to Word
2. Rename the Word file I just exported so that its file name matches the English Storyline file
3. Go back to the English file and use File > Translations > Import to import the document.
4. Re-save this file as the new Spanish file.

Hi John,

The export and the import would need to happen to the same file.

So, in your scenario, what that would look like is:

  1. Make changes in the English file, and export a copy for Translation
  2. Do a "Save as" of your English file to a new name
  3. Make the edits in the Word doc to change English -> Spanish
  4. Import that file into the English original and resave as your Spanish version.

You'll see the steps outlined in a bit more detail here.
