Hi, Laura -- So sorry to hear of your difficulties! Just to confirm, you've followed the steps outlined here for Importing Slides from Articulate Quizmaker? You may also want to try importing the file into a new file, and if you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline.
Otherwise, I might ask if you could share your Quizmaker file here so that I can attempt to import it into SL2 on my end to see if I have the same experience you've described. Please use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box and browse/upload from there. :)
