Quiz marking course completed successfully although it gets failed

Hi everyone,

We have a course completion issue on one of our LMS platforms (we use LMS A for internal audiences and LMS B for external audiences). 

On LMS A our completion isn’t showing up correctly when we fail the quiz (for this one, the course appears completed, although we failed the quiz a couple of times. And we are tracking in the Storyline publishing settings the quiz results slide for completion. The quiz is on purpose, but then – the first attempt is in progress, and the second failed one gets completed for some weird reason. The successful attempt is completed, for the record, as expected.

For the second LMS everything worked as expected: it failed – appears to be in progress, it gets completed, – appears to be completed.


How can we investigate what might be the root cause?

 

Quick troubleshooting info:

Report status in LMS was set up as Passed/Incomplete but we also tested the file with Passed/Failed, Completed/Incomplete, Complete/Failed.

The Storyline file is attached just with the quiz section. The original file is bigger, but we had to remove our company’s confidential information.

We opened a ticket also with the LMS support and they told us to change the shorten a bit the description. We completely removed the description. Nothing changes.

Storyline version: 3.79.30921.0.

Other things we tested:

Test A: The full course with the old results slide was exported from other people with different (recent) Storyline versions: 3.79.30921.0. Did not fix the issue.
Test B: The full course with a new results slide. Did not fix the issue.

Test C: Only the quiz with the old results slide. Did not fix the issue.

Test D: Only the quiz with the new results slide. Did not fix the issue.

Test E: Copied content into new storyline file. Did not fix the issue.

Happy to help!

Thanks for sharing your testing results on two different LMS environments. This was very helpful in trying to isolate the cause of the issue. I did another test in SCORM Cloud to compare the results and can confirm that the course is working as expected. Here's a screenshot of my test where completion is not marked as 'Complete' regardless of how many attempts is taken. 

Testing in SCORM Cloud is a helpful way to determine if an issue is LMS specific. Since the issue appears to be isolated to the LMS A environment, please continue working with their support team to resolve the issue. One additional troubleshooting step that you can do is to enable the LMS debug logs for your course to provide more insight into what's happening in the background.
