Quiz questions marking as incorrect even though they are correct

Jun 21, 2019

Hi there,

I have a course which has 10 questions at the end and in all the testing, the scoring works perfectly.  However, since launching, there are a couple of people who have tried to complete the course and on one question it repeatedly says they are answering the question wrong and taking them back to the same question. After redoing the same question a few times and answering the exact same answer, the test finally says correct. There are about 4 people out of about 800 who have experienced this issue and I can't replicate the error in testing or on our LMS even using different browsers.

Could this be a glitch in Storyline or their browser? Or could I have missed something? It seems strange that so many people have completed the course without any problem and others have got stuck on this one question.

Hi Bethan,

I can appreciate that it's frustrating when only a few learners are running into an issue, especially when you're unable to replicate the behavior yourself! With such a limited scope of learners, it is more likely a browser issue or an action the learner is taking that they're unaware of.

Do you know which browser and version they were using? It sounds like it's occurring on the same question for all your learners too? Do you know if they all have taken the same action in terms of the number of attempts, closing the course, answering questions in a certain order, etc.?

Let us know here what other information you're able to glean from the learners and we'll be standing by – and if we can find a trend, that will help us nail down what’s going on here!

Hi Ashley,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Yes you are correct that it's been on the same question. I think most of the time, if not all, it's been when people have used Internet Explorer rather than Chrome however many people have used Internet Explorer without an issue. I don't know the version but that's a good question for me to look in to. There hasn't been an obvious pattern in taking the same action however it has seemed to work on the fourth attempt for most users.

If you hear anything or have any suggestions please let me know. Otherwise I will make a note of versions people are using if we hear of this issue again, thanks for the helpful questions!
