Quiz questions throughout course content

May 21, 2013

I'm new not only to Storyline, but to Articulate in general. We have historically used another product to create our online courses. With that other software we are able to have quiz questions appear throughout the course. The learner can close out of the course at any point (which is important for many of our staff who may get called away to attend to a patient) and come back to pick up where they left off.

However, in doing some test runs with a Storyline course, I'm finding that after each quiz question, status information is sent to the LMS in the form of the status and grade. Once this information is sent, the LMS believes the user has completed taking the course and finalizes the status and grade of the course. The user cannot continue the course from where they left off should they close the course.

I've tried separating the content into Scenes with various results slides. I've tried Scenes without results slides. I've tried putting all of the content into one Scene with one Results slide. I've elminated triggers for submission until the final results slide. No matter what I try, I can resume the course after exiting ONLY if I haven't completed a quiz question. Once I answer a quiz question and close the player, I cannot resume the course.

Am I trying to make Storyline do something it cannot do? Am I missing a setting somewhere? I'm at a loss.

Thank  you,

Denise

Hi Peter,

Well, it's still not working. I've tried so many things to test this course, that I'd like to have the quiz questions "reset" to the defaults before I do any more testing. What should the triggers be in a typical quiz question in terms of submitting and/or advancing? Should the course submit results after each question?

Thanks again,

Denise
