Quiz slide using QuestionCounter

Jun 05, 2019

Hello E-Learning Heroes.

I use the QuestionCounter variable for our random question exams (attached). I have the variable for on a Master slide which works beautifully, however when they review the quiz, I created a trigger to reset QuestionCounter to zero so when the learner reviews their completed quiz, the slide resets to zero.

The challenge I have is if the learner is reviewing the slides and decides to hit the previous button the QuestionCounter goes up instead of backwards like we would like it to be. Would you know what Trigger I could use to cause the slide number to go backwards if the previous button is clicked during review?

Slide numbering in Storyline 360 has been a big hit! Thanks for the suggestion, Ron.

Justin, if you choose to stick with your layout, the QuestionCounter variable will increase every time a question slide's timeline starts. Here's what you can do instead:

  • Attach the trigger to adjust the variable to the Submit button (which will cover taking the quiz)
  • Add two more triggers to increase value with the Next button and decrease it with the Previous button (covering the quiz review)
  • Set the default value of the variable to 1 so the first slide shows the right count

Let me know how that works for you!
