Quizmaker in Storyline 3

Dec 12, 2018

I have created an exam in Quizmaker, selecting 20 questions randomly from a bank of 50.  I need to allow the user 3 attempts to pass the exam, but if he/she fails on the third attempt, I want the user to be returned to the first Scene, first slide.

I'm having difficulty understanding how to set up my variables and triggers for this type of action.  Can you provide some help?  Appreciate any help.

Hi Darrell!

It sounds like you created the quiz in Quizmaker, then you imported that quiz into Storyline 3, is that right? If so, try this:

  • First, you'll want to set up the 3 quiz attempts by following these steps.
  • Next, add a button to the Results Slide Failure Layer.
  • On the button, add a trigger to jump to slide 1.1 when the learner clicks the button.
  • Set the initial state of the button to Hidden.
  • Finally, add a trigger to change the state of the button to Normal when the timeline starts on the Failure layer if the Attempts variable equals = 3.

Learners will use this button to jump back to slide 1.1 if they fail all 3 quiz attempts. Give it a try, and let me know how it goes!
