Quizmaker to Storyline

Jun 18, 2012

I am attempting to import some quizmaker files into Storyline, but I have lost a bit of functionality. Is it possible in Storyline to get a drop-down that lists the quiz questions, as there is in Quizmaker?

Also, the default behavior when mousing over answer options is to highlight the option. I would like an outline rather than a solid highlight. Is this possible? If so, is this setting in the player template, or somewhere else?

On a question slide, check the states of each of your answers.  They should have a hover state that you can change to what you want.

Not sure if this can be set in a master or not.  Doesn't appear to be . . .

You may want to look at putting your questions into a question bank and then, even though you don't get a drop down, you do get a listing of all your questions on one screen.

Oh, right - the hover state! Excellent. Although that's a lot of places to make a change. I have maybe 250 questions total (over several quizzes) with 5 answer options each. If anyone knows a shortcut, I'd love to hear it!The reason I want the question drop-down is for the users, not for me. So I don't think a question bank would help for that issue.

Good morning Antoine,

I've seen something like this recently, If I remember correctly, the problem was related to the location of the files. Please make sure that you're working with local files.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Let me know if you still have trouble inserting the Quizmaker questions.

Thanks!

Christine

Hello all,  I have used Studio '09 for the last couple of years.  My college was looking for a quiz making app and I suggested she try Quizmaker.  She loaded the 30 day trial (Quizmaker '13) and did a bunch of work, of course i tried to open it with my version and no luck.  I have been watching Storyline and noticed it imports Quizmaker and Engage pieces, so instead of upgrading to Studio '13 I decided to go the Storyline route.  Now Storyline, to my surprise, does not import Studio 13' Quizmaker only '09.  She did a bunch of work and I don't want to ask her to recreate all the work in my '09.  Does anyone know of a way to convert Quizmaker '13 back to '09?. Any other suggestions to get that '13 work into Storyline '13.  It took a act of God to get my company to purchase Storyline, I would have some questioning if I now ask for a Studio upgrade.   Thanks, Eric

Hi there Eric and welcome to the community!

First, when you upgrade a Quizmaker '09 project to Quizmaker '13, it creates a backup file automatically:

So, if you need to go back to that original file and it was originally created in Quizmaker '09, you should be able to do so with that backup file.

Second, you're correct - Currently, Articulate Storyline doesn't support importing content from Articulate Presenter '13, Articulate Quizmaker '13, or Articulate Engage '13. We're working to make this feature available in a free update for Storyline.

Another option, in the meantime, would be to publish the Quizmaker '13 quiz and insert it into a Storyline slide as a web object. While I realize this may not be the desired path, it may save you (and your colleague) some time and work.

Hopefully we'll have more news about the support of Studio '13 content in Storyline soon.

Thanks and welcome again, Eric!
