recording and playbackk devices

The program does not seem to allow me to select my microphone and the recording device and my speakers as a playback device. It only allows the same device for recording and playback ... but because my microphone doesn't have speakers I have no ability to listen to my recording without going back into the program to change devices. This seems really inconvenient and I can't imagine how the program was designed to work. Please provide some guidance.
Thanks,

Hi Ken,
What version of Storyline are you using? Are you trying to conduct a screen recording or record audio within Storyline to see this behavior? Did you confirm if any other applications have difficulty connecting with the speakers and microphone? I typically am able to use the system/display audio for recording and playback and then when I do plug in my microphone (just an iPhone headset) that also has a speaker for playback.
Did you try to see what was available for playback when disconnecting the microphone? Are you only experiencing this while recording or when viewing the published output as well?
No worries. I resolved the issue through my system settings. Should've checked that before posting. Thanks for your reply though, Ken
Hi Ken!
