Recording Exam Question Responses

Sep 05, 2019

Hi- I have two questions concerning tracking/recording in SL.

  • I created an exam in Storyline and would like to track what questions my users are getting wrong, and if possible see their individual responses. Is this possible to do in SL?
  • Also- I'd like to know which is the best way to publish a course for tracking?Passed/Incomplete, passed/failed, complete/incomplete, or completed/failed. I'm not sure what the differences are. I have quizzes at the end of some eLearnings, they need to pass w/ an 80% (they can retake the course unlimited times).  For exams, they can take it unlimited times & need to pass with an 80%.

Thank you!

Hey R Kay,

Great questions here! I am happy to help address them below:

  1. I wanted to share what information Storyline passes to your LMS, which can be found here. Storyline will send that data to your LMS for tracking/reporting.
  2. We usually recommend choosing Passed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed. These options are most likely to record both completion and success statuses in your LMS. Each LMS can interpret statuses differently so you will want to test your course in your LMS to make sure you get the results you expect.

If you any additional questions on this, please let us know!

Hi Lauren-

I usually pull the course activity report & it just shows the score. I can't actually go into the exam.

I can pull a course summary, course activity, learner activity or learner progress. They all just show the scores though-

We use Absorb as our LMS. If there is another way to go in & see the actual responses that would be wonderful. Thanks so much for help.

Hi R,

I'm not familiar with Absorb LMS, but hopefully, folks in the community will be able to weigh in.

A quick Google search led me to this information from a user:

To see the results you can go to Reports > Assessments > then filter by course name and session name. I usually then click "Answers Report" and then filter by last name. It's quite a process to view a users answers, but the best way that I've found to do it natively within Absorb.
The other option is to have your IT team (if you have one) run a script that pulls and organizes the information into a report that can be run internally.

Hope this helps!
