Recording Screen Video

Apr 25, 2020

Team...

the course I am planning to develop will use videos of device and PC screens extensively and I've been having issues with the inbuilt screen recorder in that it often fails to save the footage I'm recording...it just hangs.

I work on a high end PC that I use to create video content and it works with 4k footage using Adobe After Effects and Premier. It was built for video and is 3-4 months old...so I can't imagine there is an issue there.

Would anyone share their experiences recording screen video and using them in Storyline 360 as I'm wasting lots of time currently.

Has anyone found it's best to use a screen video capture program external to 360 (say Camtasia) and import through the standard 360 interface?

Any workflow methods you'd be able to share around this topic would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for reaching out!

How strange! The screen recording feature shouldn't be hanging up like that. A few questions for you when creating screen recordings:

  • Is this happening in one specific file?
  • Does this issue appear in a new file?
  • Are you working from a network drive?

If you are working locally and this is happening in each file, a simple repair should help resolve the issue! You can find the steps on how to do this here:
