Recording Text Entry using Chrome Not Working

Dec 13, 2017

I'm recording an application simulation and some fields require text entry by the learner.  When I record this in IE, it works.  However, I need to record this application in Chrome.  When I enter they text into the field, while I'm recording the simulation, it looks like it is working fun.  However, when I insert the slide into my Storyline, it doesn't pick up the typing.  The triggers look the same as they do with recordings in IE.

I'm doing this in Test Mode with Chrome.

I have Storyline 3.

Hi there Gayle,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue you've run into, and there are a few things I'd want to check to help narrow this down.

  • Are you on the latest update of Storyline 3
  • Is your Storyline file stored locally?
  • Have you recorded in Chrome previously? If so, did it successfully record your typing?
  • Have you tried recording another website in Chrome to see if it records your typing on another site?

Keep me posted!

1. I am on the current Storyline 3 version.

2. My file is stored on a shared server in my company. I published it to my C drive on my laptop.

3. I have probably recorded in Chrome previously, but don't remember if I was entering text.

4. I tested this right now with Chrome and it still didn't work. I've attached a copy of the file.

Hi Gayle!

You mention that your file is on a server.

Do you have the ability to work on your local computer: software and files?

It looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if needed by clicking ‘Edit’ beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help. This also prevents your file from populating here in the forums and I know you mentioned that it was 'included'.

Yes. I save the original file to a shared drive, but I publish the file on my laptop hard drive C-drive.
I can save the recording to my C drive if that helps.

Thanks Gayle - I would try that first and then let us know if we need to take a closer look.
