Recording using Storyline: Screen resolutin
Dec 12, 2016
I am recording simulations for a client who requires training on a new software application they are rolling out. I changed the resolution of my computer monitor to 1366 X 768, specified the Storyline stage to be the same size, and recorded my sim. I did this for 8 different sims.
Then, I changed the resolution of my monitor back to the original size; 1920 X 1080. When I received client feedback to incorporate into the sims, I opened Storyline to edit a sim, without changing the resolution of my monitor. Now the size of the sims in Storyline are 720 X 540.
How in the world did the size of the sims change? (By the way, I published the Storyline files to Word to send to the client for feedback, so they didn't have the source file.)

Hi there Cindy, thanks for reaching out and sharing the details of your steps here. I followed each of the steps you listed here (using Storyline 2), and I did not see a change in the size of the simulation. Can you confirm that you're working from your local hard drive? Working on a network drive or an external (USB) drive can cause erratic behavior due to latency, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources.
Also, could you try to replicate this in a new file to see if the same behavior happens there?
Hi Alyssa,
Thank you for testing it out. I am working on my local hard drive, versus a network drive. I will test it out to see if it happens again.
Thank you,
Cindy
Thanks for that update, Cindy. I'll be standing by to hear what happens when you test again!
Hi Alyssa, I am testing on my local drive (HTML) and the simulations look really pixelated. Is there a way to change the resolution once the simulation is inserted in my slides? I'm also not sure what the best resolution should be when I go to publish my work. Can you help?
