Recover Storyline files

hi there,

I had Storyline files on my desktop and my IT advised after a new laptop rebuild that I will be able to recover those files. Unfortunately I believed them and I cannot recover them. Is there any way Storyline files are saved on the cloud and I can get them? Since its built using Storyline 360. 

Any ideas/ suggestions will be great.

Hi Jalpa!

So sorry to hear that the files are gone. Let's talk about our next steps:

While Storyline source files (.story) are local to the computer, there could be working versions in the temp files. Here's how to check:

  1. Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline 
  2. Scan the contents of this folder for files that start with the name of your projects. If you find any, copy the latest versions to your desktop. 
  3. Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story
  4. Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

We also have these tips to help prevent losing project files. 

Let me know if you have any more questions, and I'm hoping we find some .tmp files. 🤞
