I want re-purpose the next button to reset one of my slides. When I rename the button to reset the right pointing arrow is still present. Is there a way to remove it or is it embedded in the image of the button that storyline is using?
You're correct, the "<<" and ">>" arrows are a part of the button design. While you can change the text, I don't believe that you can remove the arrows.
If you're not wanting to show those arrows, it may be best to create custom buttons in your slide or Slide Master. That will give you a little more control over the design and interaction with the buttons.
any way to find the image file for the button in storyline and change it there? I'm sure there are lot's of files associated with the application. What about any of the files that are generated with you publish and I just swap out the necessary file?

Thanks!
Use a submit button instead.
Already using the submit to send users to a home screen.
LOoks like Christine's suggestion is the only way unless you change their colour to blend in
