Reset Multiple Choice Questions to Initial State

May 11, 2019

I realize this topic is posted everywhere, however, I have all of my questions set to reset to initial state.  I'm also using a results slide with the score.  On the results slide, there is a "retry" button.  Do I need to also set this page to reset to initial state?  If you do not select the retry button, and you go back into the exam, you cannot select answers.  I'm not certain what I am doing wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

John

Thank you, Wendy.  One question, the course module is designed with 21 different chapters and 21 different test banks.  If the student does not select the retry button and decided to use the menu button or select the next button to advance to the next chapter and test bank, will this still work?  In other words, can I set a trigger so that the test bank automatically resets if the user scrolls away from the module "without" selecting the retry button?  I hope this makes sense?

Thank you so much for your help.

so that the test bank automatically resets if the user scrolls away from the module "without" selecting the retry button?

The quiz bank will only reset the result and allow the users to 'retry' the questions if a 'reset results' trigger has been activated.  If the user isn't doing this by clicking a RETRY button on the result slide then you would need to have a reset results trigger on another slide.

Then the question - how do you decide where / when that happens.

Not sure how many attempts you are allowing them to have for each quiz but perhaps if the fail layer displays on the result slide you could have a trigger on that layer that automatically resets the results on condition that the user doesn't click the RETRY button but if they don't go back and do the quiz do they end up with a 0%? or is their initial score taken?

Lots of questions about how you want it to work so I guess I don't have a definitive answer for you. Sorry...

Thank you for responding to my question.  It's actually very odd and I have done massive testing over the last day.  I'll try to explain and perhaps I should attach my file.

Students go through a module, with questions sprinkled throughout the chapter.  They watch a video recap and then take a quiz pulling from one question bank.  No questions from the chapter are selected in the draw slide, ONLY the chapter quiz bank box is checked.

When I take this on my desktop computer, scores seem to work fine.  100% shows correct, miss one, 95%, etc.  However, if I move to my iPad and take the same quiz from my browser (not the app for my LMS), strictly using my iPad's browser, if I make 100%, Articulate shows 100% on the results slide, however, the LMS will show a different percentage every time.  76% one time, 86% another, etc.

I don't know what to do but it is upsetting to my students.  I have reached out to Litmos my LMS provider, but they do not believe it is on there end.  He said something about a blank slide between the last question and the results slide.  I'm wondering if it could be my triggers set for the results slide?

I have attached a screenshot of my triggers.

Thank you again for your help.

Sounds very odd.  Can you try this John.

Upload your published zip file to Scormcloud (an industry standard LMS for testing). Here is a KB article that may help.

Take the course on your desktop and then take it on your ipad and see if there is a difference...if there isn't, it will be some setting in your LMS that may need tweaking.  I've heard of Litmos but am not familiar with any of it's settings so can't help you there.

Sorry for the delay in replying I've been offline.
