Reset to initial state...Uh oh..

Dec 04, 2013

Hey guys,

So I made this awesome spy game type of aactivity in storyline Im particularly fond of. Then my client asks me to give the student the option of replaying the activity so they can repeat it as many times as theyd like. Im like sure dude, no problem! Then I realized....

The bulk of the activity revolves around one slide. This one slide has multiple buttons that act as triggers to other slides where the questions are. Once they are answered they return to this main slide to click on another button that takes them to another slide, where they answer another question ect...

The problem: If i set the properties to reset to initial state then the questions they have already answered also reset! -_- ... Help!

Hi Nick,

If the client is looking for them to do the activity again, wouldn't they want the questions to reset? You could also just set the main slide to "reset to initial state" and that shouldn't impact the other slides with the questions on them (unless you have the buttons to be disabled once the user accesses them, this won't keep with the reset). If you're able to share the .story file here with us that may help the community weigh in on other ways to set this up.

We had a small Forums issue today (hence the 404 error) but it was fixed by our team, so I'm glad your link is back up and running for anyone to take a look at your file and offer some guidance!

Looking at your course set up, would you be open to having a Results slide, as there is a button available to "retry the course" which would allow for all the question answers to be reset so that the users could take the course again as your client wants? You can of course customize the elements of the results slide as you have for your other slides.
