Resize screencast video

May 12, 2015

Hi all,

I am creating a course based on screencast videos taken by someone else. The person who took the videos used the record screen option of Storyline 2, which automatically made the slides with the screencast videos within slides.

Now, I want to resize the screencast videos (they are too small), but I am not able to select the screencast videos as objects. It seems as they were not objects at all.

Does anyone know if this is normal or am I doing something wrong?

The only thing I managed up to now is to save the screencast as a video, export it, and then import it again in a new slide. This is of course very time consuming.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi, Adriana -

I think I understand a bit more clearly what you are asking... Please check out this information on Recording a Screencast Video. Especially important is the Tip under #2 that states:

  • Tip: By default, the recording window is the same size at the slide dimensions in Storyline. This will give you the best screen quality. You can either resize the software to fit in the default frame or grab one of the frame’s corners and resize the recording window to fit the software. You’ll notice that the recording frame’s aspect ratio remains the same. That’s so it will fit perfectly on the slide.

It is also important to note that once you insert it as a video on a slide, you should be able to resize it like any other video, but step by step slides cannot be resized once inserted. Hope that helps, and if not, you are welcome to submit a support case if you would like our team to take a closer look.
