No you can't resize them, but you can mimic them by creating your own and then resizing as needed.
Add a circle to the screen (or other shape), make it any size you want. Edit its state and add an icon to the normal state (the shape and icon will now function as one object). Add a Hover state. With the hover state add a COMMENT shape and put you text there.
As someone now hovers over your "marker" they will see the comment appear. You won't have the flashing pulse to it.
