Retry quiz questions - new feature

Jan 14, 2019

Hi

Is anyone else getting this error message when they try to use the new 'retry' feature for quizzes? I follow the instructions included in the link below for the 'Retry' button, and everytime I try and add the triggers I get this error message. Can anyone help please? Thanks in advance.

Hello Miriam,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you are experiencing with your course.

I just tried to recreate the error and was unable to.

I have a few additional questions:

  1. What version of Storyline 360 are you using?
  2. Are you getting an error when adding the buttons, which automatically adds the triggers, or when editing the trigger for the incorrect only option?

I also wanted to mention that sharing the error report does not create a support case where we can follow up with you, so I'm glad you reached out as well :)

Hi Miriam and Wendy,

We ran into the same problem when adding a Reset Results trigger to a button. This is happening in Storyline 360, Update 23, so you may install an earlier build, if needed.

As a workaround, try inserting the built-in button from the Results slide -- the trigger will be automatically created, and you shouldn't hit the error message.

The issue has been raised with our product team, and I've linked this discussion to our report. We'll keep you posted here!

Hey all. I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 24 for Storyline 360! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here.

One of the fixes addresses an issue where manually adding a reset results trigger to your results slide caused Storyline to crash.

Here’s how you can update Storyline 360 to take advantage of everything the latest release has to offer. Let me know how you make out!

hi Crystal

I have been trying to use the new reset only incorrect questions trigger, I want it to reset only incorrect questions when the user gets over 7/10 bu if they get under 7/10 I want it to reset all questions.

The problem appears to be that even if I set the reset trigger to different slides, the tick box option seems to set the function for ALL instances of this trigger. so I cant get the two different functionalities in the same course.

Why is this?

please can it be fixed?

Hi Lizzie,

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you are running into with your course.

You are correct, the setting to 'Reset only incorrect questions' will be for all instances of the trigger.

We have some instructions here for folks who do not want the buttons to appear when the user gets 100%, but I've not seen two different scenarios to retry.

Hopefully others in the community will be able to chime in and share their ideas.

Can anyone give me advice please? I would like my learners to only have 3 attempts at each question, but to redo just the questions they got wrong--up to three times. The questions are dispersed throughout the course so I was hoping this would help them find what they need to redo. Is there anyway to do this or will the reset button give them unlimited attempts?

Libby Doran

Dumb question: This only resets the score for all incorrect questions, is that right? So learners still have to actually find the questions they got wrong and have another go? If you have only used a 'retry' does that mean they won't easily be able to see which questions they have to redo? I was expecting it to bring up all the questions they got wrong one after another.

Alyssa Gomez

Hi Libby, not a dumb question at all!

The reset only incorrect questions option should display the incorrectly answered questions one after another, with no content slides between them.

However, this may not work correctly if you're using custom buttons with custom navigation. Would you mind if I took a closer look at your setup? You can share your file publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
