Reverting buttons to shapes

Sep 16, 2018

The solution may be staring me in the face, but I am hoping for a faster way to revert buttons to shapes, than deleting the buttons and creating shapes.

Why would this be needed in the first place? Well, I was reconstructing a sample story to see what else I needed to learn. Low and behold...

So the sample has several slides with a top bar of buttons, so I copied them over to each slide. Later in the story, there is a slide where the same tabs are shown, but with only one of each in a different color indicating the content of the layers are within that single tab, which was selected on a previous slide. I showed the unselected buttons in a normal state change in grey so it appears you can't select them, however, the cursor changes in hover mode, even when there is not a hover state to these buttons.

I know I can make this work, by deleting the copies and creating shapes, but is there a more elegant solution that doesn't require creating new shapes or all my attempted workarounds?

Hi Janet!

You mentioned that the button doesn't have a hover state, but the cursor changes to a pointer finger when the mouse hovers over it. This will also happen if the button has a selected state.

I would suggest first removing the states from one of the buttons. Then, use the format painter to copy the formatting of that button to the other buttons. This will quickly remove all of the states from all of the buttons you click.
