Run Time Limits in Storyline?
May 30, 2014
Hello everyone,
I'm getting ready to revamp a fairly large safety curriculum that was built using Articulate Presenter. We have about 17 existing modules. When we placed all this content into on Presenter file, we ran into issues because Presenter only supported a finite amount of minutes (10 as I recall) of run time. We implemented other strategies to accommodate our business needs.
I'd like to place all this content into ONE Storyline file. Is this possible? The entire run time of this curriculum is about 2.5 hours.
And:
1. We can't do a curriculum with multiple learning activities in our LMS--too buggy.
2. I know long eLearning stinks, but we have no choice in the matter--compliance/cost/management.
3. I really want this in one Storyline file for ease of management.
Thanks in advance for all your help!!

Hi Samuel and welcome to Heroes!
I haven't seen a set course time limit within Storyline, but what you may want to look into for overall file maintenance and playback is how many slides, how long are the videos, etc. Content in Storyline will be preloaded to help prevent playback delays, as described here.
The main issue I would expect is the bookmarking data limit will likely be hit so resuming may get affected.
If you can publish to Scorm 2004 or Tin can you can probably get round this.
Thank you Ashley and Phil for your replies.
Both of you concerns are valid. I think I'll stick with our original structure for now. When we upgrade our LMS this summer hopefully we can leverage a curriculum for this issue, and we'll be SCORM 2004 so that'll help too.
Thanks again.
Sam.
