Safari problem with Excel file download from SCORM

Nov 16, 2023

Hi there!

I have a problem with a learning path I am creating with storyline and exporting in SCORM 2004 format. Both uploading it on SCORM Cloud and on my LMS, I get the following issue when I open the course with Safari (on any device).

In this module I need the user to download an Excel file.
On every other browser this works perfectly, but on Safari it gives me the attached problem (I copied it on a .txt file).
It only returns me this problem if I try to download the Excel directly from the path, if I open it in a new window (selecting "Show" instead of "Download") and then download it as a file, it works.

Does anyone know the reason behind this?

Or else, does anyone know if in Storyline I can set a custom alert to show telling the user to open it first and download it from there, only if the course is opened on Safari?

Hi Luisa!

Thanks for reaching out regarding the problem with downloading your course files in Safari. I'd love to help! Please confirm the Safari version you use to help us find the best way forward. I'd also like to test this out on my end to nail down the cause of the download issue.

I appreciate you sharing the error logs! Do you mind attaching your Storyline project to this discussion as well? You can also share it privately in a support case; we'll delete it when we're done testing!
