I am trying to create a new Storyline template but I can't seem to save the Feedback Master changes. I make changes to the master slide and the feedback slide and save as a .storytemplate. Then when I go to open a new story based on that template, it opens with the slide masters looking good, but the feedback has gone back the to default grey. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Are you able to share your .storytemplate file here with us? If you'd prefer to not post it in the forums, you can always send it to our Support team and they'll take a look.
Thanks Becky for walking through a test file - I was able to recreate the same behavior as you described it. Cathy, if you get a chance to share your .story and .storytemplate file, please do so by sending it to our Support team. You'll want to reference this thread as well.
No problem (you just had to wait for me to get up to respond as I'm on New Zealand time!). I think it's good to share it with the wider community, so I just needed to get the logos off.
But - for the meantime - my work around was to keep a quiz question in, save it as a storyline template, then after I create a new document, I delete the quiz question - the feedback master stays.
Cathy, tx for reporting your work around. Ashley, will this be reported to support, or should I submit it as well? I, too, have had things that didn't seem to work right with masters, but at times figured it was "user error." Since you, Cathy, and I all had the same experience, it's sounding like something that needs to be fixed. Or, if there's a reason it's designed as it is, it would be nice to know the reason.
Thanks for submitting it as a case - can you share your case number with me so that I can follow along and share that my experience with it as well?
I suspect it's designed to only import the feedback master if there are quiz questions included, as Storyline is assuming you don't need the Feedback masters until there are quiz questions. But it's always best to have our Support team review it and double check.

Howdy,
I just saw this and gave it a try and the same thing happened to me. Two tests:
Test 1
Create a blue shape (50% transparent) for the Slide Master and place on "top" master slide
Create same for Feedback Master and place also on "top" master slide
Save as .storytemplate
Exit
Begin a new story based on that template. Slide Master template HAS the shape, feedback master does not.
Test 2
Create a blue shape (50% transparent) for the Slide Master and place on "top" master slide
Duplicate Feedback Master and click to Preserve original
Place the transparent blue shape on the duplicated master, on the "top" master slide
Save as .storytemplate
Exit
Begin a new story based on that template. Slide Master template HAS the shape,
Duplicated feedback master is no longer there.

Thanks Cathy for the update (and good morning!).
Interesting that the quiz question kept it in there - but glad you got it working!

I submitted it as a case - so let's look forward to clearing this up at some point. But at least we can get on with it with the work around.
I love playing with Storyline!
