Maybe not in the way you are thinking or are use to, but yes it can be done. You can create branching as simple or as complex as you can imagine.
It's just a matter of creating the "jump to slide/scene" triggers to link to your new scene/sub-scene and then linking back to the main scene.
See my example - 1 intro scene, 4 straight forward scenes, then a 6th scene that has 4 streams of slides (these could be considered sub-scenes). Each of the straight scenes leads to the 6th scene but only one line of the slides there (or one of the "sub-scenes" within there).
