Scoring problems on hotspot slides with 2 attempts

Apr 05, 2018

Hi,

I have created a test in which learners have 2 attempts per slide to click the correct hotspot. When the learner mis-clicks on their first attempt, but selects the hotspot correctly on the second attempt, the points are not awarded.

Also, on text entry screens, if the learner submits a mis-typed entry the first time, s/he does not get the Try Again message, instead getting the Incorrect feedback.

Hope someone can help.

Hi there Claire! Thanks for including your file. Let's dive in!

  1. Take a look at the triggers on the Hotspot slides. The "Submit Interaction" trigger should be on top of the "Jump to next slide" trigger. This will award points to the learner even if they mis-click on the first attempt.
  2. The Text Entry slides are a bit of a puzzle. When I switched the attempts to 3, the Try Again layer would appear. Strange thing is, it behaves like 2 attempts! I'm going to continue investigating this to see whether it's a bug in our software. I'll be sure to keep you posted on what I find out!
