I'm trying to record a segment where i have to navigate away from the application that i'm building a course for. I don't want to show this step as it is irrelevant to the course itself so i pause the screen recording.
However, even though the screen recording is being paused it still records the inputs that i'm doing. For example which browser windows i'm opening and where on the screen i click with my mouse.
This surely can't be intentional? Is there a solution to the issue?
Have you looked at editing it out using the action fine tuning method? That would allow you to remove the elements that you don't want shown to the user. You could also look at stopping the recording entirely and then starting it as a new recording. That would split the elements into individual recordings to ensure that the items are not captured.
Yes i've tried both of these and of course it works but it is time consuming. I don't really understand the purpose of having a pause button if it does not pause the recording?
That does sound like a bit of unexpected behavior, I can understand your concern here. To narrow down the cause, I'de like a little more information. Are you working from a local drive or a network drive? You'll want to make sure you're working from a local drive, as working from a network can cause some unwanted behavior. Also, please make sure that you're running the latest update for Storyline 2, update 11.
Is this something that you're able to reproduce any time you attempt to record your screen? If so, and you've verified that you're working locally and running the latest update, I would recommend running this repair on your software. Keep me posted! :)
