Screencast has added mouse click sounds

Oct 18, 2023

Hi all, I'm new to this but I couldn't find the answer when I searched.

I have just created a short screencast and when I previewed it there are added mouse click sounds in each step - I don't want them but can't remove them.

There was an item in the timeline called 'Screen Recording Action 1' which I have deleted to no effect. I have also tried to modify the player but there isn't any option to remove all sounds.

The articles I have seen are quite old and some of the links to solutions are dead links. One suggested removing the audio file from the project after publishing - is this the only solution? Why was this audio added and how can I remove it please?

Thanks in advance, Alanna

Hi Alanna!

It sounds like you were trying to silence the mouse clicks from screen recordings in your Storyline course. I'd be happy to help with that!

Removing audio files from the published output is a valid solution we recommend. However, another option would be modifying the mouse-click settings. When you click the mouse object on the timeline, a new menu should pop up on the Ribbon, called Mouse Tools > Format.

Mouse-Click Options

There, you have the option of selecting 'None', 'Single', or 'Double' for the audio feedback. I would suggest choosing 'None' to eliminate the sound completely.

Please let me know if this works for you!
