seeking help - SL360 slide kick-back when reviewed on LMS in IE11

Aug 29, 2019

Hi everyone,

I am wanting to ask some advice on how to fix a problem I currently have within a build using SL 360.

When I test the build within SL there are no issues however, when I upload the build to a test sight within the LMS there are about 10 slides where when you click the next button to move forward the whole slide kicks-back (moves to the left a few millimetres). This issue is only visible in IE11. In Google chrome and Microsoft edge it functions as normal.

One particular slide that is affected has multiple layers on it. the kick-back issue only happens on a couple of those layers.

I have gone through and made sure there is no objects outside the page, have also changed to HTML5/Flash when publishing.

Has anyone encountered this issue before?

Would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Kind regards

Tara

Hi Tara,

If the issue is only occurring in IE11, I'd like to know if you're IE browser is also in compatibility mode. That can cause IE to act like an older version, and here's how to check:

Option 1: Change Your Compatibility View Settings

  • Click the gear icon in Internet Explorer (or click the Tools menu if it's visible), then choose Compatibility View settings.
  • If the website where your course is hosted is listed in Compatibility View, select it and click Remove.
  • Also, if you're using an intranet, such as SharePoint, to host your Rise course, temporarily uncheck Display intranet sites in Compatibility View.
  • Click Close, then launch your course again. If the page is still blank, try the following method.

Option 2: Use the Developer Tools to Switch Document Modes

  • Click the gear icon in Internet Explorer (or click the Tools menu if it's visible), then choose Developer Tools. They'll open across the bottom of your browser.
  • On the right side of the developer bar, you should see an icon that looks like a computer monitor and a smartphone with a number beside it. When you hover over the icon, a tooltip will say Document mode (with a number). Click the icon to display a list of Internet Explorer version numbers.
  • Select version 11, then launch your course again.

Separately, have you looked to see if there are any slide transitions or animations occurring? That may be the shift you're seeing too. We've seen that in earlier updates of Storyline, so I'd check that you're on the latest update: Storyline 360, build 3.31.19951.0

Let us know if any of the above helps!
