Sharing Storyline Output in a WebEx meeting

Aug 26, 2014

Later this week, I'm presenting to some peers at another institution via WebEx. In prepping for this, I attempted to play the Storyline course output, and while I, as the host, could successfully see and hear the course, the attendees could only see it.

Tried sharing both the story.html file and the .swf file. The latter never loaded for the participants, although it did for me as the host.

Has anyone run into this same problem or is this a limitation of WebEx?

I also tried sharing a generic You Tube video via WebEx and had the same issue.

Appreciate the help.

Hi Michael,

If the Youtube video had the same issue, it sounds connected to webex. Have you looked at placing your published content on a server so that they could access it and play it from their end instead of you playing it through webex? There are a few free options mentioned in this article you may want to consider:

  • Tempshare: This is a free service provided by Articulate for testing Storyline content. Note: Uploaded files will be deleted after 10 days.
  • Amazon S3: Amazon S3 offers free hosting with generous usage limits. If you go over your limit, you'll be charged a graduated fee.
  • Dropbox: Place your published output in the Public folder in your Dropbox account to share it with others.
  • Google Drive: Change the story.html file to index.html, and set the sharing permissions to Public. Here's how.

Hope that helps!
