Shelf life of Articulate Resources

Jun 03, 2021

Hi, as a new user of Articulate within my department, I am frequently being asked by academics about the shelf life of resources created with Articulate. They're concerned about having to resign the material again within in a relatively short time frame. How accessible and relevant will these resources be in 3-5 years time? Especially during a time where so online learning is changing rapidly. (I'm not expecting anybody to be able to predict the future)

Any ideas, predictions. or theories would be valued! Thanks,

Hamish

Five cents on this topic and line of questions i recognize all to well.

The simple answer is that training, all training is ideally fresh goods. It is constantly being improved, updated and adapted, preferably during a planned lifecycle.

The reality is a bit different and may vary a lot.

But ideally trainings, and in this case e-learning assets, is something organic , it changes based on at least the factor of time, environment and business strategy.

So the shelf life is simply connected to level of relevance for current target groups.

The question to propose is instead  - What does it cost and what are the potential  consequences  to have irrelevant training available for use on the shelf?
