Showing Survey result in LMS

May 13, 2014

Hello

I have created a survey which will tell whether user comes under high , medium or low risk.  I published this as SCORM package and tested it on SCORM Cloud  and its showing the result slide.

Now the question is how can I track this data in the LMS and show it in reports. Is there any way where I can access these values.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Pranali and welcome to Heroes!

Since survey questions aren't graded, there isn't a particular value to report to your LMS - but if you'd like to report a "score" or value indicating whether the user is a high, medium or low risk - you could adjust a variable based on their answers and use that to report out on the score. For example, this tutorial is a basic start  - and would allow you to provide a text answer (such as high, medium or low) and look for that answer within the LMS. If you'd like it to be more of a score, you could set up a variable to be adjusted based on how the user answers the questions. I'd then add in a multiple choice question with three options, which are scored by answer (let's say high is 10, medium is 5 and low is 0 points). You would add a trigger to this slide to change the state of the radio button based on the value of your variable - and then ensure that the last trigger is to jump to slide next slide when the timeline starts - so that the user never sees it. As a example I created a mock up where on the first slide you select High, medium or low - which adjusts a variable and then click "Next" to go to the next slide.

Hope that helps you get started!

Hi Ashley

First of all Thanks for your reply. I have tried the above solutions and the survey is working fine. But I am not able to track it on LMS. I need to track  the result slide ans show it in LMS grade book. I have also tried it using variables and short answer interactions. But no success. Could you please suggest some other way through which this can be achieved?

Hi Pranali and Helen,

If you're tried to report out on the short answer questions and your LMS isn't displaying the users answers, you may want to check with your LMS team in regards to what options you have for pulling reports, seeing user's answers, etc. Every LMS is different in terms of how it handles the data that Storyline sends in regards to questions.

Were you able to test out the example I shared - as that is translated into a regular quiz question and therefore you'd be looking for the score, and again depending on the LMS it may also provide the text of the answer chosen?

There is also a great article here on troubleshooting common LMS issues in regards to reporting and tracking.
