Simulation with multiple hotspots

Mar 15, 2021

Hello all,

I have a question related to multiple hotspots on a slide.

  1. I have created a Slide Master that includes background configuration and navigation hotspots that may apply to all slides
  2. Then I started with the actual content, which is a screenshot with a hotspot. When clicked --> Next slide
  3. A feedback layer exists for if the learner clicks outside the hotspot
  4. Although, you should still be able to click on the navigation icons that were set in the Slide Master.

So actually I am looking for a trigger that is for "Show Layer if clicked outside of the Hotspot, except the all other existing Hotspots (next / previous etc).

Has anybody worked with a similar scenario?

Regards,

Sabeen

Hi, Sabeen,

Here's how to do what you want:

  • Add a hotspot that covers the entire image area, or even just the keyboard (since that's where users will likely be clicking).
  • Add the "show layer" trigger to that hotspot.
  • Bring the "correct" hotspot forward so it's on top of the new one.

FYI: If a user clicks off to the side where there's no hotspot, it's acceptable if nothing happens. If the cursor isn't changing to indicate something is clickable, then the user shouldn't expect something to happen if they click there.  :-)
