You can't adjust the overall slide duration - but you could change the length of an element on your timeline by right clicking on an object and selecting "Timing" the default will have it set to show till end of timeline. If you uncheck that box, you'll be able to change the overall length of the objects timeline and you could lengthen the timeline that way. If you need to shorten your timeline you'll need to use the method of clicking on the end of the timeline and dragging it back to the left.
