Slide template objects skewed when project dimensions are changed

Sep 21, 2016

We have a new SL2 format at our work that has a story size set as 966 x 533.  Because this is a "widescreen" format it skews the slide template objects such as the tabs in the Process Interaction slide template and the Tabs Interaction slide template.  Upon investigation, the reason for this is that the objects within the various states were shifted when the story size was changed from the default of 720 x 540 to the new company template size of 966 x 533.  It is VERY labor intensive to align all the states for multiple tabs.  Is there a way to change the story size without jacking the templates or, even better, is there a way we can make our new company format size (that we are required to use) have the correct settings automatically for the new format size?  We would rather have the slide templates automatically be correct for the 966 x 533 size rather than having to fix it every time we create a new project.

Hi Heidi,

As you've already experienced, changing the story size after you've started a project will move, shift, or scale to fit the new sizing. Have you tried both the Scale to Fit and Fill Background options to see if one works better than the other?

In the meantime, here's a forum thread with more information on changing the story size and scaling objects. I'm curious to see if anyone else in the community has tips to share!

Hi Heidi,

Thanks for sharing that here - and I do see something similar that we reported to our QA team but it was in connection to quiz slides with how the question/answer text was displayed. You're seeing this with standard objects and items on your slide? If so, I think we'd want to take a look at your initial file and then do some testing on importing it into a different story size. Are you able to upload a copy here to our Support Engineers?
